What are the Eligibilty criteria for Deakin University Scholarship 2024-25?

Eligibilty criteria:


To be eligible for this scholarship, students must comply with the following :

  • International and domestic students who are enrolled in an HDR course of study at Deakin University are eligible for RTP Stipend, RTP Fees Offset, RTP Allowance or DUPRS.
  • Students will not be eligible for RTP Fees Offset if they acquire any monetary support from the Commonwealth designed to offset HDR fees.
  • Students will not be eligible for RTP or DUPRS Stipend if they receive any support from another source to support that student’s general living costs while undertaking their course of study if that income is greater than 75 percent of that student’s RTP or DUPRS Stipend rate.
  •  Income unrelated to the student’s course of study or income received for the student’s course of study but not for the purposes of supporting general living costs is not to be taken into account.
  • For the RTP or DUPRS Stipend, candidates must have completed at least four years of tertiary education studies.
  • Candidates will be enrolling in a full-time degree on campus.
  • Candidates must have achieved 80% or equivalent in the research component of their previous study or an equivalent level of academic attainment, taking into account previous study, relevant work experience, research publications, and other research experience.
  • Current HDR students are also eligible for RTP or DUPRS Stipend. They will be assessed by the University.
  • Meet all the requirements of Higher Degrees by Research (HDR) Admission, Selection and Enrolment Procedure:
    • Master’s degree: Completion of research project including a thesis which is equivalent to at least 25% of a year’s full-time study at level 8 or 9 of the Australian Qualifications Framework with achievement of a grade for the project equivalent to a Deakin grade of 65% or equivalent.
    • Ph.D.: Completion of a research project in a related area including a thesis which is equivalent to at least 25% of a year’s full-time study at level 8 or 9 of the Australian Qualifications Framework with the achievement of a grade for the project equivalent to a Deakin grade of 70% or equivalent. or A Masters degree (Research) in a related area.
